Del Irani is an award-winning journalist & TV presenter, who’s hosted shows on Australian and international television including ABC News and BBC World News.

She is currently a host of “Escape from the City” on ABC TV in Australia, which is based on the popular BBC Show, Escape from the Country in the UK. Additionally, Del is one of the main anchors on Australia’s national breakfast TV program ABC News Breakfast, which airs from 6-9am. From 2013-2016, she was one of the creators and presenter of award-winning talk show, #TalkAboutIt.

Del is a former BBC World News Presenter and Correspondent. She was appointed Mumbai Correspondent for BBC World News in 2009 and also became the Presenter of India Business Report, a weekly show broadcast to 77 million people. During her time at the BBC, she provided live coverage of breaking stories, including the trial of the lone surviving gunman in the 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks.

Del is a board member of the Western Bulldogs Football Club Community Foundation. She is also a regular moderator for the United Nations (UN), hosting regional conferences for the International Labour Organisation.

Del started her career in journalism as field producer, travelling and living in many different countries including Bermuda, Panama, Belgium and Dubai. She immigrated to Australia from Mumbai with her family when she was eight years old. After growing up in Sydney, Del completed her degree on a scholarship at the University of California, Berkeley.
